Meet Sugar...!

Well....here she is - the four legged whirlwind that stole our hearts over eleven years ago now.  She's the sweetest, cutest, most maddening animal I've ever come across. but since she was the inspiration behind some of the art, I thought she deserved a mention here.  But before anyone looks and thinks 'I WANT ONE' here are a few things for you to consider... VERY SERIOUSLY!

ENGLISH BULL TERRIERS are...

ENERGETIC...  Bully's have the stamina of a Mustang, sleep with one eye on the biscuit barrel and erupt into fits of playfulness when you least expect it - at least mine does!  

HILARIOUS...  Funnier than any clown, Bully's can amuse themselves quite happily by tearing into your designer suite like it was made of tissue paper.  Not so funny huh?

STRONG...  Muscles is what this dog is all about, yet rarely do they use their strength to assert themselves.  Why would they when they can overpower you with charm?

INTELLIGENT...  You bet they are!

CURIOUS...  Never leave your handbag unattended for it will almost certainly be hijacked by a curious bully looking for food/toys/anything interesting or edible.

HUNGRY...  Permanently.

STUBBORN...  As the proverbial Mule.

IGNORANT...  Don't even try to 'TELL' them to do something because it won't work!

DEAF...  Only when they want to be.

STRONG... A 70lb bully can floor a 200lb man just by running at him - ask my husband!

LOVING...  And extremely loyal.

HARD WORK...  Demanding and often  un-cooperative, a Bull Terrier is not for everyone.  You MUST have unlimited patience to cope with such a high octane animal, not to mention time and love in abundance.  Once you have allowed a bully into your life, things will NEVER be the same again.  And if caring for a 'terrible two year old' for twelve years or more is your idea of an easy life, then you probably need counselling.  Apart from that, YOU will never actually own HIM, HE will own YOU.  You will never again be able to eat, sleep or even go to the bathroom without a bully wondering where HE fits into the frame.  He will constantly test your patience and your love, and he will never let you forget how much HE means to YOU.  What YOU mean to HIM will never be up for questioning - the love nips will take care of that

Don't believe me?  Still interested?  Thinking of getting one?  Wait!  Hold that thought until you have thoroughly researched the breed and all it's characteristics.  This is not a dog for everyone and will almost certainly wreak havoc in your home if you are not properly prepared for his or her arrival.  If you are absolutely sure you still want one, then take a deep breath and go find a REPUTABLE breeder.  And Remember, GENUINE breeders will NOT allow their puppies to go to just anyone, so BEWARE the breeder who doesn't ask questions!

And to top it all, just when you THINK you are angry with him for swallowing your favourite shoes/handbag/expensive work of art, your heart will dissolve into a thousand pieces, leaving you feeling hopelessly defeated - which of course you will be.
